The Next Pizza Night is Nov. 10th

We had a great time with brain teasers at the last pizza night in October, so to continue the challenge we are going to work on various types of puzzles both on paper and online in November. We look forward to an exciting time and hope that the 5th through 8th graders will come out to the Springfield Township Library at 7pm on Nov. 10th. Remember Pizza night goes until 8pm.

We welcome ideas for other pizza nights. If you have a suggestion, please comment on this post. Thanks!

Here are some of the brain teasers that we worked on at the October Pizza Night.
  1. Do they have a 4th of July in England?
  2. If there are 7 months that have 31 days in them and 11 months that have 30 days in them, how many months have 28 days in them?
  3. How many birthdays does the average man have?
  4. Here's one for the Phillies Fans: How many outs are there in an inning?
  5. I have two U.S. coins totaling 55 cents. One is not a nickel. What are the coins?

For One Day

Mrs. Palmer went to the Phillies game and the Phillies and their coaches were asked, "If you could be someone else for one day, who would you be?"

The Middle School group was asked the same question...here is what they said,

"I would want to be Miley Cyrus"
"Charlie Brown"
"Prince Charles"
"I would want to be Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus"
"Peyton Manning"
"Miley Cyrus"
"My dog Colin"
"A dog"
"I would want to be a homeless person to see how hard they have to struggle. Then I know how we can help them."
"My dog"
"Hannah Montana"
"Vanessa Anne Hudgens"

Then she asked the group if they heard of "The Diary of a Whimpy Kid"
Imagine you are now authors if you were going to write a book "The Diary of..." what would the title be? Also write a sentence like you would put in the diary..."Today I..." Here is what the children said...

The Diary of a Dog
Today I will go for a walk. Tomorrow I will eat.

The Diary of a Teddy Bear
Today I sat with Ally for a tea party with Mr. Bunny and the puppy Jenny.

The Diary of Daisy
Today I will be the best dog ever.

The Diary of the Three Little Pigs
Today I build my house.

The Diary of Paper
Today I am getting drawn on.

The Diary of a Homeless Kid
Today I will get through another day.

The Diary of the President
Today I went on "Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader" and I failed.

The Diary of an Athlete
Today I practiced and tomorrow I play in a world-wide game against Mia Hamm and David Beckham.

The Diary of a Teacher's Pet
Today I got on the Distinguished Honor Roll. Then I got twenty extra credit points.

The Diary of a Pop Star
Today I rehearsed by tomorrow I will perform.

The Diary of Sarah
Today I had pizza.
